Default Ebay and locked threads

I know alot of stuffs been going down lately in the C4 parts sale section. BUT here is my issue, I posed up that I was guaging interest in selling some AC stuff. Long story short I said that I was probablly going to list it on ebay. I then did and all I said was it was going on ebay and then my thread got locked. When I posted there were no rules, a few mins after I posted...wow look, a sticky of rules! Now if there were no rules BEFORE I posted you cant go behind and lock a thread AFTER the fact!! I think we need some moderators to moderate the moderators

THIS IS NOT FOR YOU TO GO ON EBAY AND SEE WHAT I AM SELLING AND THATS WHY I DID NOT USE MY EBAY USER ID.

How long until this gets locked?

I typed in the "fleabay" word in the search engine. Whoa!!! There's 400 threads referencing it. Maybe all of those threads need to be locked too.

There are a set of rules or are they guidelines in this section that mentions the for sale section. I can't tell the difference betwen rules and guidelines anymore. Anyway, it does say no links. I saw your locked thread but didn't see any link. Maybe the mod modified your thread to remove it I don't know.

But to lock a thread because of the word. Maybe it's just interpretation starting all over again.

I also noticed the old rules posted at the top in the for sale section. Go figure...

I'm sure someone will post "If you don't like it, you know where the door is" which is not adding anything productive, which by the way I believe, is another "rule"

Mojo's sticky has been up there for over a year. The very last post in it says,

"From the For Sale section:

As of tonight, no more ebay links.(5/22/05)"

I guess you have not been following the whole thing. MoJo removed the rules not too long ago and until this morning there were no rules.

Just great, so Frank threw a tantrum and left, now a couple C5 moderators step in to re-nazify Mojo's reign over C4/parts. And the amusing part about all this, is the C5/parts section (and everywhere else besides C4) is full of best offer "ebay" threads, has little or no enforcment, and doesn't have any pointless drama or life & death problems like Frank seems to think the C4 section has.

I can't help but think all these rules started right here in the C4 section by Mojo, because that's the only place they've ever been enforced. The moderators have no one to blame but themselves for this pointless overenforcement. It hasn't saved anyone from getting ripped off, and has turned the section into a kindergarten playground.

I expect that they'll show up here and do some enforcing too. Maybe they'll make a new rule saying you can't criticize them as well. Rules always make things better.

I think the fact is, the rules still stand even if they're not posted

If you're selling a part you have to list the price...been that way since I joined the forum back in "00"

I agree with you. I was not yet selling. I was trying to figure out how much the stuff was worth and then sell it. I never got a responce so I listed the stuff on ebay and I just noted on the thread that I was doing that.

The first rule - and only rule - that should be on any for sale section is thus: CAVEAT EMPTOR.

Buyer beware. It's that simple.

The other solution would be to have a thread of good transactions and bad transactions. So WE can judge for ourselves how things should be.

eBay is named as some kinda panacia of perfection, by they don't do **** to fix fraud. It's rampent there... always has been and always will be.

The C4 Parts for Sale section is not bad, compared. I like the idea of an area where we can offer parts up to each other first. That works. But to think we can control a free market is insane.

And to think that the Forum is somehow responsable for the actions of a member is totally laughable.

I am not asking nothing here, just stating that there is a problem that was "fixed" yet there isnt a problem. Did I lose anyone there?

One thing is abundantly clear on Corvette Forum....the "rules" are enforced selectively. I firmly believe that a lot, not all, of the Mods rule this place by the seat of their pants, and enforcement of the "rules" are based solely on the "mood of the day".

I agree...BUT, I presume the mods are doing it on a volunteer basis, and I don't criticize volunteers unless I am willing to take over their job.

Hell, I've done more to curtail fraud on here than Mojo or the mods have. I wouldn't mind the rules if they served some purpose.

The ebay thing is a forum wide thing. This is one of the reasons rules are needed and posts like this make my life more difficult. The removal of myself and the rules does not mean you can automatically have a free for all. There are general forum rules that apply no atter what I say or don't say.

I rule the C4 sections, and that's all you can hold me accountable for.

I help in the C6 sections and C5 is not on my list of things to watch.
