I just bought a new head unit for my 92 LT1. A company called Metra makes a wirring kit that plugs in to the factory harness, so I don't have to cut any of the factory wires.
2 sets of wires come to the factory deck, but only 1 goes to the new unit. I believe the car has an external wiring harness mounted somewhere outside the factory head unit, and the connection needs to be from there.
Has anyone installed an aftermarket deck in their car without cutting the factory wires? Could you guys tell me where the module is located?
The tuner for the radio is located under the passenger side dash. This is where you will need to get the wires and the antenna. Also, there is a TSB on installing an aftermarket radio in 90-93 Vettes. You will have to install 2 1K-ohm resisters behind the radio to prevent the SYS light from flashing a code. This is the TSB: http://www.corvetteforum.net/c4/dave8476/index4.shtml .
