I count myself to very fortunate to sit behind that 96 dash and wheel every time I get in the vert.
Took the kids to the zoo today and saw a guy about my age who was all twisted up in a wheel chair.
Priorities folks.

My 90 steering wheel feels like a pizza box,(96's look a little better) loved the one on the 89. Gauges more visible, easier to handle.

I ducttaped my breadbox onto the steering wheel for safety. Unfortunately though, it hits the windshield at full lock.

On a 91 there is a way to see a digital readout of the water temp but it is on the ac unit where it shows the outside temp.

I have no experience with other wheels, I'm only 19 and haven't been in a lot of different vettes/cars. But I do love the tight feel of the wheel, it makes turning very easy.

Thats just my opinion. I'm not here to bash ur thread. perhaps I'm trying to convert you i dunno..

and the wheel on my '84 aint bad at all

I'm not getting mad at anybody, just sick of people bashing on Buicks. The newer ones are the grandma cars. Check out the '87 GNX and you'll see what I mean, faster than a C4.
my '84 dash only goes to 85(it was a law back then). but the readout goes all teh way up

I like the wheel in my 86. Its not in great condition but its perfect size and I like being able to put my hands on the bottom or wrapping around the "spokes". And since there is no airbag I have considered getting a new one. Any detachable ones for sale?

I really like the "Atari" dash in my 1989. All of the digital gauges are easy to read and seem pretty accurate. The beefy 2 spoke steering wheel is great. I guess they had to change it to the padded type for the airbag.
I also love the quick steering and solid handling of the Z51 Package.

But I like the overall design of the C4. Very tight look and feel.

The C5 has the Head-up display option that is cool. But I like the digital/analog in my '94.

I am glad I have them on my 92! Hey- How many of your analog gauges read close to the digital gauges? My oil temp and water temp read much lower on the analog gauges!

One thing is for sure, you rarely find Buicks in junk yards!

A GNX is pretty quick in a straight line, but try going around a curve .

But there are two design features on the interior, that I have never liked. They are...the instrument panel, and the steering wheel. I don't know what the Corvette designers were thinking when they came up with that instrument panel on the C4, especially the later models..with that jukebox, hodge-podge design. I really wish they had stayed with analog instruments, instead of all that gimmick stuff. At least they came to their senses with the C5 and C6. It would be great if someone make a conversion for the C4 to replace the stock instruments with a analog set up. I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap, and probably a pain to install.

The other item...the steering wheel...This thing looks like it came out of grandma's Buick. If you compare it to all the Corvette steering wheels of the past, and the present...it looks pretty sorry. My question is, has anyone ever replaced the C4 steering wheel, with another wheel, off a different year Corvette? I think the new Z06 wheel would really be nice. Anyone have any information on how much work this would be to install a new wheel?
At least you later model guys can get to your taillight bulbs. You gotta be rubber man to get to the ones in my `87. I`d gladly settle for an "ugly" steering wheel to get away from this irritating Quirk in the earlier C4s.

Compared to my '87 the IP in my '94 is a definate improvement. Is it the best IP I've ever seen?, noo...still too much video arcade game. My '05 Accord coupe and '04 Mazdasaspeed MX-5 both have clear, consise analog IPs which I still prefer for ease of "read".

Overall I consider their ergos superior to my Vette as far as the IP is concerned, and as far as the seats go...oh do I wish the Vette's were as supportive as my Accord EX. OTOH, I sure wouldn't get rid of the C4 for either of those cars! LOL! DFO
