Got my first Corvette!
I pickup up a 96 CE LT4 Z51 car last Friday. I went from a 98 6-speed T/A to the Corvette. I flew up to Georgia and drove it back to Florida. It has 49k miles and got it for $24k. It is in exceptional shape.

Corvettes sure feel a lot different than an fbody! You can really tell it is 200 lbs lighter. The steering and handling is so much better!!
I can't tell if it is faster than my T/A though. The T/A was more harsh and had a loud exhaust. It did 13.2@106.85mph last time I tried but probably was a 12.9 car since the lastest mods. My Corvette is 100% stock. Supposedly the LT4 cars are 12 second cars. I will find out later. It feels like a 14 second car because it is so smooth and quite!

Welcome to the Forum! Your '96 CE looks great! What made you decide to "switch gears" and sell your T/A and purchase a Corvette? Just curious as to what draws others to these cars as well. :D
I'm jealous while I love my vette I really wish i had gotten a CS or GrandSport instead the LT4 is the way to go, why not start with an extra 30HP and a 1 year production car gotta be best for long term resale :chevy
I have always been more of a handling guy than a drag racer (unlike most fbody guys). I had been using the "I have to have a 4 seater" excuse for years but realized it had been a year and a half since my family had been in my T/A.
I could have made my T/A handle as well as a Corvette but it would not have been very streetable and I don't want that from a daily driver. Other factors included stronger rear end and 4 wheel independant suspension. The Corvette is just a better balanced car than the fbodies and that is what I want. Just look at the mods from my 98 T/A and you will see that I just don't care about straight line acceleration like 90% of the fbody guys. In fact, I am quite tired of hearing about drag racing. It is just a performance measurement for me, nothing more.
One thing I don't like about the Corvette is the stereo typically image. I just turned 40 so everyone thinks I got a Corvette because of this and that. The fact is that I have had performance cars since I was 16 but they don't want to hear that because it doesn't fit with their idea of a typical Corvette owner. Oh, well, fbodies have their own stereo type as well!
