I just bought a 92 c4 and I was thinking about buying and installing the complete c4 to c5 body kit including lights and exhaust system and having her go thru a complete paint job. My question is how hard is to install this??? does it fit well??? is it worth the trouble??? has anyone installed one of this??? what is the opinion on them or should I just keep it the way it sits and put the money into engine mods. I really like the c5 look but the c4 is killer too. thanks for any and all input
ps: I did do a search here and nothing about this kit came up.

I think that if you buy a C4, you have to be proud of your C4. Make it look nice. Don't put too much stuff on it. Keep it clean. Work on the engine. Make it better.
With a nice C4 you look like a guy who likes C4s and got a great looking one.
With a C5 made out of a C4 you'll just look like a poor bastard that didn't have the money for a c5 so you didn't have any choice to do this. And this is just sad.

And the big kicker is that you COULD have had a C5. For real.
Wow, man. That's 0 for 6.
You know, it's not like you bought a Vega and want to make a Ferrari out of it. You got a C4 Corvette.
Anything you tack on to make it look like a C5, well, someone's gonna notice it. And let's face it: if it's really high quality stuff, it's gonna cost you.
And by the time you get finished, you'll have the price of a C5!!!! Now where's the logic in that?
wow talk about honesty, but I get it, is like a beautiful woman after 14 plastic surgeries LOL----that weird FAKE look. I guess I'll stay away from the body kit. Thanks for the welcome and replies guys, I would like to stick around for a while. here is pic of my beauty

The general opinion from folks here in C4 is that the C5 body kit will decrease the resale value of your C4. It makes you look like a poser.
Having said all that, here are pics of an 84 C5 that don't actually look too bad. There is no way that he will ever get his money out of it though.

For the amount of work involved, you might as well buy a C5. The price differences aren't near what they used to be.
A C5 kit WILL increase the value of your vette, although making it harder to sell, but you'll never get back the amount put into the kit.
Apparently none of the C5 kits fit without lots of work.
And, why would you upgrade to the C5 anyways? Assuming you're looking for the newest looking thing at the cheapest price, at least hold out for a C6 kit.
hey I guess you went to one of those good plastic surgeons, a costly one may I add I don't know how much that guy paid for his upgrade but when I did the math to make mine look exactly like that minus cowl hood and different rims it would cost me 5k not bad imo but like I said before, I too like my c4. I thought the body kit did not installed toghether properly but after seeing those pictures I guess the question is more of poser/upgrader vs purist, more to consider.
Hey, I think we all understand individ preferences. We pretty much feel the same way. So, I didn't hear/read anyone saying you're a looney tune for wanting to do it.
But, you did come to the C4 forum and ask the question. I can't imagine what the reaction would be if you asked the same question on C5 (or C6 or C3, for that matter). There, you might get some stronger words.
If you want agreement that this is the right thing for you to do, my suggestion is go to some kit-car-world forum site and ask the question.
If you ask me, $5K, plus your car, plus lots of work, plus paint, will add up to a C5 that you can buy off the lot, somewhere.
Welcome to the group, the C4 clan loves C4's. I would guess that many could afford a C5, but choose to stay with the C4 for many reasons. First the lines of the C4 over the C5. C4 people can argue for hours on the nicer lines of the C4. The cockpit of the C4 is liken to a jet cockpit. While the C5 is plain, but comfy. I have owned both and they both have a lot of good things about them. Your car is great, enjoy it and have some fun. Every time you see CPS "Cheap Plastic S**t" to bolt on, run away from the darkness as fast as you can.
My wife and I had family over at our new house (at the time). WE were talking about this feature and that feature. I started talking about things I wanted to change with the house. Without really paying much attention to what I was saying.....
My old Uncle pipes up, "Why didn't you just buy a house you [b]liked[b/]?"
Kinda hit home in "doh!" kinda way.
In fact he was 100% correct. If we didn't like this or that about the house and wanted to do all these changes, why not just go and get one we liked from the beginning.
Understand, I am probably in your shoes as far as buying a Vette and the C4 being very reasonable in price (actually the only way I can afford any Vette). I can relate to why you may want to "upgrade" (in your mind) the body. Just know this, the generation/style of a car is something to be proud of.
