Would anyone happen to know why GM would discontinue a part like a rear axle toe socket? It is the ball joint on the rear suspension on the end of the toe link, and when I was doing my u-joints I found that mine was very sticky and almost frozen. It took a lot of effort to pop it off with the suspension fork (as opposed to the one on the other side), so my guess is that some genius over-torqued it at some point.
In any case, I called Zip's and Car-Quest about getting one, and neither had them. JT at Zip's told me to call the dealership, which I did, and after telling me the part cost $115, they found the part was discontinued and they had none in stock.
Seemed to me like and odd thing to discontinue, even for a 17 year old car. Are there any aftermarket replacements for these? Or anyone who is parting a car who'd mind parting one to me?
