The paint job on my old C5 would cost around 10-15k depanding on the shop. HIGH quality paint jobs are a TON of money. It took Richey Col 4 months of labor to do my car and when it came back it was the most amazing paint work I have ever seen. I found 2 blems very small and in hard to find places. I paid a lot less from HOK sponsorship and Richie helping me out.
See sig for the C5

I think spending any more than $2000 on a paint job is rediculous. I had my old Buick painted by Maaco over 2 years ago. It looks good and only cost $400. I dont think i'd let Maaco paint my vette though, but only cause I think they'd spray over delicate parts like weatherstripping. They do a good job painting, just dont pay careful attention to WHAT they're painting. Doesnt suprise me to hear about overspray problems from other people who've used Maaco.
Good paints are very expensive! I have been spraying paint for almost 8 years now and it always amazes people when they see how much it cost. My last House of Kolor job ended right at $1500 for all of the chemicals, and that was just a Shimrin Black Pearl. With that said, for most corvettes that are just looking to freshen up the finish I would say find a good reputable SMALL shop that will do good work. Have them stick with a good quality paint and a simple color with the existing color being preferred. That should keep you in the sub $3500 category and still yield very, very good results. Just to drive home the point, HOK Kameleon paint runs around $2500 per gallon of basecoat!!!! Oh but it's cool!!! lol You are right though; those boys at Macco and such do spray a lot of paint so they are very comfortable with their equipment and paint booth, so they can do a good job; it's just not company policy to put in the time required for that.
I'm getting my 84' painted at a quality custom shop .They are stripping it down to the glass, full prep 4 coats of base and 4 clear and
micro-sanded..
$3,740.00 and 3 weeks
Must depend on where you live....Paid $800 tio have the frontend of the 90 resprayed, thought that was reasonable.
Spent 10k on the 67...Very nice paint, lotsa body work. I took the cheap route the first time and got ripped off, so I did it twice.
Yeah, its worth it.
If you like the car who cares about value vs $$ sunk into it. Just make it the way you want it. This is a hobby, supposed to be fun and its going to cost money regardless. Enjoy
Hi , i just got mine painted , still at shop being put back together . It looks great ! full color change . It was totally stripped down .Parts in three buildings .You can not tell it was a color change . They have had it there for 2 months ,but i think it was worth the wait . Cost .8000.00
Will post pictures as soon as i get it home , so you guys can give me your opinion . have a great night .
In a few months Ill be having my car painted 96 Artic White, while it needs no body work,it has its share of scuffs ,scratches 10 years of road chips. To do it right the painter will be removing everything from door handles to tail lights and anything that can be removed $2400.00
lifetime warr. NOT BAD .... I dont need to spend a ton of money when i drive at least 100 miles a day. I like driving my coupe

Here are a few pics of mine being painted, the only time tape was on my car was around the windshield and behind the headlight holes in the hood, and to hold the plastic in place in the cargo area. I removed everything except the doors, the jambs were first painted and cured the doors were then put back on and closed to get a even color match across the car since it was metallic, the front and rear bumbers were held loose in order to get color into the seams.
It took about a month to complete though he took his time and did mostly insurance cars, this was a two person shop. I should also mention he went back and painted the wheel well openings to cover the overspray that was the only area that had a problem.
