on a 93 with c68 option how hard is it to replace it with manual ac control nothing wrong with it now but when it breaks (AND IT WILL) i want manual control unit i hate the electonic one

no such luck... it requires changing all the mixing door controls. The only thing constant between the manual and C68 is the ducting, the control methods are totally different.
I have C68, it's got 152k miles on it and works perfectly... Don't worry about it failing.
Every so often, I take mine out and clean the contacts. All is good.

Ditto. I think they're one tough little unit, and whenever I have a chance to mess around with my Pioneer headunit, I'd also take the controller off to clean the contacts.
