Just purchased a low milage 92 C=4 seems to be running a little hot for me. Not really to sure since this is the first vette since my 62.
What should I be running at this is sort of a daily driver sbut mostly a week ender. The running time is 198 to 220 but in traffic yesterday it went up to 230 a little scary. Any help for me. Suggestions as I am new to the forum. thanks. glenn
The fans come on at 228 to 230 perfectly normal, at least for a C4 it's normal. Welcome to the club !! Glad you got another Vette. My dad had a 62 one of the best looking Corvettes ever. You can buy a manual fan switch and turn the fans on whenever you like for less than $20.00

Does anyone else find it ironic that westcoaststeam's first post is entitled "Running hot?" Check up in your front air intake, particularly between the condensor and radiator. These cars suck up debris like a Hoover. Congrats on the Vette and welcome to the forum!
The LT1 Corvettes are programmed to kick on the cooling fans at temps that are much higher than I'm comfortable with seeing them operate. What you are seeing is normal, but I don't like it. Mine's been reprogrammed to kick the cooling fans on at much lower temps, and I'm a lot happier with it this way.
There's been much discussion on this forum about this subject, and you'll probably hear a lot if differing opinions on this in response to your query.
If you do choose to have yours reprogrammed for lower fan-on temps, just make sure that the fan-on temps are sufficiently higher than your thermostat-open temp, so that your fans don't run constantly.
