I had to wash my engine compartment Sunday due to a tremendous amount of fine dirt that got in there from parking in a dirt parking lot while attending the Good Guys car show in Loveland Colorado. I had to use the hose to rinse off the dust. I tried to cover the opticrap with a towel but now I have a "check engine" light and both cooling fans run all the time.
Any suggestions?
I left the battery disconnected over night and with it over 90 degrees in the garage today it looks like it must have been water somewhere where it didn't like it. It's not showing any "check engine light" now! So all is well!
This seems to happen from time to time. Water doesn't hurt the opti, although it may run like crap for a day or two afterwards. But in most cases it should clear up. One thing I would do is pop the plug wires on the opti and put a good dose of dielectric grease in the boot.
Your mostly concerned with coolant soaking the opti, it is not forgiving like water and will cause damage if the opti absorbs some of the coolant.
