[SMOG]: Passed!!!!

Woo-HOO!!!!I put a can of Seafoam through the car (1/3 in the crank case, 1/3 in the gas tank, and 1/3 into the intake via the brake booster line) yesterday afternoon... MAN did it smoke! Smelled somethin' awful, too... Anyway, I went back to the station that did my original (failed) test on Monday, and ran another pre-test. The numbers looked great (NOx was down by about 100ppm), so I had 'em run a real one.
Ugh...it failed *again* - NOx was 509, and the upper allowable limit is 424.

This morning, I decided to try a different SMOG place. This time, a "Test-Only" station (vs. a regular repair shop that also does SMOG testing). I figure, they have nothing to gain if I fail..
Sure enough, my car passed with FLYING colors - all parameters were well within normal limits, and the troublesome NOx component dropped by nearly 150ppm.
Anyway, I'm very happy, and just wanted to share it with everyone!!!

it makes me wonder about the calibration of the other shops test equipment. either that, or the cats were hotter, doing a better job.
now, change that oil... I didn't know you can put seafoam into the crankcase... that sounds scary.

I'm definitely getting another can of Seafoam and running it through the wife's Jetta. Although she doesn't have to SMOG this year (car is less than 5 years old), it can't hurt. The car will DEFinitely run better, that's for sure.

"Dual exhuast?"
I said, "Yep...why?"
(he had my printout from yesterday) "The other shop had you down as "single"...<sheaks head in disbelief>..."
