Default Gas storage

I live on the Gulf Coast. Is there anyone out there that works for gas or chemical co. that knows how long you can store gas in 5 gallon cans. I want to put up 8 five gallon cans for hurricane season. Does stabil work as good as they claim it does? They say up to a year.

...I use Sta-Bil over the winter in my Vettes. 4-5 mos later, the gas still ignites

IMO, you are looking for trouble storing that much gasoline in jerry cans - Always keep your cars near full - or buy a 55 gal drum of fuel for safer storage

I say either go with the 55 gal drum or use some type of black plastic when screwing on the caps to the container to prevent fume leaking. Make sure you be careful not to get any in the gaso line though.

Yea 55gal drum is best bet though. That is what I am doing for prices that are getting jacked up. Trying to get like 4 55 gal drums at a low price.

I've been using Sta-Bil for years in my motorcycle, Corvette and yard equipment. Seems to work as advertized.

For my generator I keep 6-5gal. plastic containers in the shed, with "Sta-Bil" ( with a little extra in the mix). Around June/July when my work van, the wifey's monti and the vette get near empty I dump 1 container ( only 1 at a time) in each tank, then top them off with 93, and refill the can. Then skip a week and do it again. Never had a gas related problem in 2 years

I store 150 gallons in 5 gallon cans all the time for hurricane season, it holds for about 6 months then I start using it. I will NOT put it in the vette though....DD only
