Default Head(ers) Examination

I just did a search on headers and I didn't turn up too much so I putting it to you guys. As part of my winter projects (it's always best to plan earlier and save money in the summer while driving) I plan on getting a set of headers for "Catherine". I asked my Dad, but he mostly old school info from him.

What I would like to know is, what is the difference between short and long tube? How much does it cost and is it a bit*h to DIY? What kind of horsepower gain? With my Magnaflows will the RedHead be able to stand riding in it?

Just more questions to help shape my little mind!

Thanks in advance!

Michael

Do you have emissions in your state?

No emissions in VA (at least not that I know of) and my car is a 95 LT1 A4. Noobie mistake and I should know better!

Nevermind, I refined my search a little more and got the answers I'm looking for.

If I were you I would go with the Long tubes over shorties and with High flow cats ....as far as loudness , it won't be that much louder unless you remove resonator and put an x-pipe or straight pies ...all the best !

Michael,

I wish had spoken up at the winery. Fred and I both installed headers in our C4's in the last year or so. We could have bored you to tears with all the details.
...
On second thought, it's good you didn't mention it...

ANYWAY, Either he (username SQUARE) or I would be happey to answer any specific questions when you get ready. We both helped with each other's install, so if you need a hand, you should mention that too...

In short though,
Buy Long tube headers, and get them coated.

Also, I seem to remember Fred posting the pics we took somewhere on the web. If you search for his posts specifically, you can probably find the pics of our installs.

BTW: nice jeep in your sig-pic. Have you got in with the local jeep club yet? Let me know if you haven't. There are a few of us around in both.
