ok dont laugh at me, but i have to ask this...i took my targa top off a couple of weeks ago, and put it back on the same day, and now on the highway, i get wind noise coming from where the top seals up the windshield pillar..i think i put it on wrong. I was wondering if there is some sort of proceedure for doing the bolts, like do u have to do them in a certain order? I know the weatherstripping needs to be replaced but it didnt make that noise before i took of the top. I was just wondering if theres a proceedure for doing the top, because i dont have the manual. thanks
Hey, not laughing. Have you tried removing and reinstalling it? I'd just make sure it seats evenly. I tighten all my bolts until they start to set, then go around a time and tighten them on down. probably your weatherstrip is bunched, if it's needing replacement like you said. Good luck, and don't be afraid to ask questions, although you'll probably get more responses to tech questions on the tech board. :seeya
Thanks for the help guys, im gonna take it off tomorrow and re-install it. Hopefully, that will work. Another question, does anybody know what kind of paint to use on the trim around the targa, where its satin black, and on the windshield pillars, because i wanted to redo mine, as its looking pretty faded. I assume a regular can of flat black spray paint would not be sufficient for that.
Make sure that you are in a level surface when you put the top back on and then loosely tighten the rear then the front screws. Once they are all on fully tighten the rears then the fronts.
if you look at the layout, it eventually makes sense to tighten the rears first.
the rear bolts will draw the roof toward the back as they're tightened - no good if the front's already tight.
i locate all four and leave loose to get started, then rears, and finally the fronts.
