I called my tire place to oreder a couple of Eagle F1 Steels for the rear of my car, 255 50/ZR16. They told me that they cant get them anymore!! WTH!! I wanted to put the same tires that i have on the front so it looks the same. What can i do about this? Does goodyear make another tire with the same tread pattern that i could get? I might check out tire rack too, but this place gets em for the same price and puts em on for free. Thanks everyone!!
I recently looked to replace two of my Eagle GSCs which are not made anymore and ended up with the Eagle HP Ultras. Price was pretty good at $185 each balanced and mounted and they both ride well and look good. A good alternative.
I was looking at tires yesterday after my blowout on the interstate :(. Still got my notes here. Goodyear told me my ZR40's I have on it had been discontinued and suggested going with the Ultra HP's.
Be careful shopping around.
The local Goodyear dealer quoted me $340 for a 275/40/ZR17 Ultra HP, but would "give" it to me at factory cost of 268.00 and throw in the S&H and mounting. I went shopping around and found them at tirerack.com (link below) for $165.00. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....+HP+Ultra+Plus
Tire rack takes about 3 business days and the Goodyear dealer would have them in 2 days from the Indianapolis plant. A lotta money for 1 day, huh?
I hate trying to be ripped off. :boxing I'm assuming these are the same tires...unless there is an Ultra Ultra tire I didn't see :D.
When I had to replace ONE of my original Gatorbacks on my 85 I found out that Goodyear does not make them anymore. I called Goodyear customer service to complain because the corvette really needs all tires to be the same type and I did not think it was right that I had to now buy 4 tires when I only needed one. Goodyear worked with me and my tire dealer so that my tire dealer could get credit for my good Goodyears and Goodyear would sell me new F1 Steels for $65 each. i am not real happy to now hear the F1 steels are no longer being made. If I need just one I will be calling Godyear again. I suggest you call Goodyear and complain and also mention you are a member of this forum. Let us know if they help you out too.
I wonder why Goodyear discontinued a relatively new tire so soon?????
Thanks for all the replies. I agree with skeet. I cant believe they arent making them anymore. :bs Now i will have two different types of tires on the front and back. It will look kinda cheezy i think. I wanted all the same tread pattern. What tires are they gonna put on the C5's now? They usually come with F1's. :smash:
