This is my first post, so I'd like to start by saying hello to everyone.
I am glad I found this forum, it looks very promising.
I recently got a 1987 corvette about a week ago, and would like to get as much information on it as possible.
Whats the best way for getting the specs of this car? I know that its not a "z" series, or callaway, so i guess thats a good place to start. What are the other models for an 87? I'm guessing its the "Standard" model, but would like to be exact on all of the information, instead of just guessing.
What would the engine type be? L98? 350, TPI?
What would the Transmission be?
Any link to a detailed spec sheet on the engine (cam specs, etc), other than the basic ones i keep finding that only show hp and torque?
Welcome to 'our world' and congrats on the first vette. You will find the list of RPO codes under the center console door. Then here on the forum you will find a listing for what each code means.

Welcome! You have the 4+3 transmission. You can get an owner's manual from www.corvettecentral.com
Here is another great book that will fill your head with more facts than it can hold:
I have this at home and you will love it. Looks like it is on sale at www.amazon.com right now too.
I have two recommended sources. The first is the Corvette Black Book, written by the same guy that wrote Cor-Vette Specs (Antonick), and I would also recommend "Corvette From the Inside" by Dave McLellan.
If there is a local Corvette club, you might consider going to a few of their events (sort of a 'test drive') to see if they are doing things you might be interested in.
The L98 is a solid, torquey motor, and should deliver excellent performance.
Welcome aboard, the 87 is a great ride. It was picked by Car and Driver as one of the 10 best in the world for that year. You can get a copy of the original window sticker and the build sheet from the National Corvette Museum. This will give you all the information you need.
