Hopefully these will help my lack of horsepower in my 383. I currently only have 245 to the rear wheels. They are almost ready to go back to the machine shop for a six angle valve job and flow tested. Heads cost me $999.98 delivered to my front door and only $175 for the machine shop to disasseble/re-assemble and do the valve job. I think they are gonna cc and flow test them also. Between these and the Lingenfelter 211 cam and roller lifters I am hoping for over 300 rwhp. Compression should be around 10.7:1. I was barely pushing 8:1 with my dish pistons and 80cc iron heads I had on it before.
Before......
After.......
Not the best pictures in the world. These are Edelbrock Performer heads. 64cc 170 intake port. Same as the Edelbrock Performer RPM heads but these have the EGR ports in them. These will handle up to .575" lift with the installed springs. I will be running .530/.560" lift with my 1.6 rr's. Should get them back next week. Will be running it on the dyno once it is back together and tuned.
How come you only have 245 HP with a 383??? My stock '85 is pushing around 203 at the wheels. With your upgrades you should have more than the aprox. 300 HP at the crank.

Well, it really wasn't that bad for an 8:1 compression motor. Add in a cam with too much duration and voila, no HP. I had only around 105lbs compression. Had low compression pistons with about 80cc heads.
I can say I would hope so! Please fill us in on the dyno results with the new equipment!
Have you taken the 383 and run it at the track and are the times in the 1/4 mile and 60' times in harmony with the dyno results?(meaning does it jive is it doing what the numbers say from the dyno or is it faster and the dyno shop made an error?)
What is your gear ratio and what year is your Vette?

It's an 85 w/4+3and I think it has 3.07 gears. Three different runs on the dyno so they are pretty accurate. We have a 1/8 mile drag but no 1/4 track. Haven't taken it there yet since I work when it is running. Hopefully that will change and I can run it there.
