I read where toothpaste can take scratches off of a cd. My stereo faceplate has a large clear plastic face and had a few small scratches that I found annoying. I took some Rembrant toothpaste and a cotton ball rubbed it around, mostly circular, and then cleaned it up. Looks better than I had hoped. I don't see those scratches at all.
Anyone else ever try toothpaste for this or something else? I'm thinking about trying it on the body (car body that is) on a few small scratches.

Toothpaste is a very fine abrasive/polishing compound. Should work as well as a good plastic polish (NOVUS) and everybody has some sitting in the bathroom!
I'm sure everyone has good intentions, but be careful with putting to use some of the advice you find here. I keep seeing people recommending Rubbing Compund for Corvette finishes. Rubbing compund is a coarse, abrasive compound! It's best use is for dull, faded paint and deep scratches. My guess is most Vette owners take better care of their finish than the average car parked in the driveway. Use a rubbing compound as a last resort.
I should note that my suggestions are for use on CD's and such. I've never done it on paint. I used Pledge on my stereo unit faceplate and did an ok job. It worked great on DVD's.
