OK, last week I posted that I was going to put a set of Flowmaster 50 Series 3 chambers, leave the resonator on, and keep everything looking stock by welding the stock LT1 tips onto the Flows. By the way, I have a '95 LT1 w/ 52K miles on it. WOW!!!!!!! Just picked up my vette a few hours ago and am I in love with the way it sounds! To me it is the perfect sound, and due to my preference, it still looks completely bone stock from the rear. My exhuast guy did a great job at cutting the stock pipes a few inches for a flush fit to the rear bumper. Between 1000 and 2700 rpm it has a deep grumble/roar and post 3000 rpm it really sounds harmonically powerful. Not too much resonence either at lower cruising speeds, but enough to turn some heads as you drive by. I was driving around in the country for a while before it got dark and a fella was out in his yard tooling around with his Harley, I tapped the gas a little and my vette belched out a wicked sound and he immeadiately stopped and looked up and stared me down until I was out of sight around the next curve...CLASSIC! Best $240 bucks I've spent in a long, long while. I'm not sure if I'm going to replace the resonator with an x-pipe yet, it just sounds so good right now. If anyone out there has done something similar and decided to go the x-pipe route with this combination, let me know your thoughts. Happy motoring.
That Steele blue is neat. I don't think I've ever seen that color. Have I been on a different planet for a while, or is that an LT1 with steele blue? Never seen that color before.
