Default Replacing door panels ?

I'm replacing the interior on my 95. It was grey seats, grey carpet and black and grey door panels. The seats and carpet are now black. My door panels of course are lose. From what I understand this is a problem on Vettes My question is...does the actual door panel have the clip on it that holds the panel to the door? Or is it the liner underneath the door? I don't want to spend 1K for panels if thats not the problem. The guys that did the seats and carpet dyed the smaller grey plastic pieces black and they look great! If I don't have to replace the panels, I'll just have the grey dyed.

Most likely the plastic press in fittings are damaged due dry rot. Remove the door panel inspect the inner liner (should be ok unless someone's been in there previously) check the opaque plastic fittings ensure they are all there and replace any damaged ones.

The structure briefly is a SMC door panel with an aluminum accessory mount panel that fills the center opening. All the handes locks mount to it. There is a sound damper liner; wire harnesses have push in type fasteners that also serve to secure the liner although the liner has some tacky ahdesive on that other side, it takes both to keep it secure.
