A little more information from you would be helpful. Besides LT4, anything else you want on the car? What kind of mileage and/or cost are you looking at? Convertible, coupe?

The major issues sometimes (but not always) kick in with miles and condition. That is, a very well maintained 100K mile car may be in better shape and last you longer with less trouble than a poorly maintained, beat to death 40K mile car. But that's true for almost any car. Long ago, I went to a very knowledgeable service manager at a dealer who said he's seen new cars come in with 5K miles being towed.

In no particular order, issues can occur with Optispark, water pump, cooling (radiator), clutch, dash, etc. There can also be body/interior issues such as windows, regulators, antenna motors, weatherstripping leaks, seat tears from age, radio amps, etc. Maybe the only unusual one as compared to other cars is the OptiSpark and water pump, both being almost unique to the LT engines (LT1 and LT4).

If we knew a little bit more from your profile about where you live, etc., and where your search is taking you, it might help, but unless you're an expert on Corvettes (C4), it might be recommended to find a shop/tech/mech who knows them well to have one checked out before you buy. The general axiom on CF has been buy the best condition and lowest miles that you can afford. And the first-mentioned is more important (best condition).

Others will chime in with their helpful words, too. Good luck.

I agree with all of the above. If the car has been taken care of and maintained they should have no other problems. They are like any other used car. I look at the maintenance and prior work records If it was some ones baby that's the one to get. LT4's are sweet cars. If she is a little rough pay accordingly.

Speeding tickets!
Here's mine and I still have a heck of a lot of pedal left!

These are reliable, strong motors. If you get one and don't know the service history then change all the fluids and filters, belts and hoses. Synthetic fluids recommended. Enjoy the fun!

I am looking for a car that has around or under 60,000 miles and my price range is around $20,000. i would like a coupe with the Z51 suspension on it. The car needs to be bone stock or maybe just a K&N. My choices are between this and an LS1 f-body. I really wnat the vette. I had a 92 LT1 6spd and loved it. I can only imagine what an LT4 would be like. My 92 had around 100,000 miles and put down 277rwhp and 315rwtq. So I was very impressed.

First off... and not to be the bearer of bad news but that price is a bit on the high side... actually quite a bit on the high side. I bought my 96 Collector's Edition for $17k with only 28K on the clock and I found out (after joining CF) that I didn't get a very good deal. The vette, in my opinion, was the better choice as I was faced with an F-body or a vette... and you see what I chose. Shop around and you can find a fabulous deal on a good 96 with much better miles... or simply a better bargain.
