The ground on my 88 small dash connector is not working. I have found the bell housing stud with several wires and cables running to it losened and retightened.
I then read on the forum that the main ground for the dash is G104. My manual shows this ground on the side of the block slightly above and to the rear of the engine oil temp sensor. There does not appear to be any wires connected to this bolt althought the bolt is there with a star washer.
I pulled the wiper motor and have not been able to get past the looks for a look or a feel from the top. I have been able to reach back under the exhaust and feel the nut.
Did they change the G104 gound on later 88's to all being on the belll housing stud? How do you get past the looms below the wiper motor to get to G104 ground bolt more directly.
Boy am I having fun. NOT!!!. Wrenching on the Vette is fun but enough is enough.
Find or make a ground connection on the block that you can get to easily and run a wire from the easy ground to the ground wire on G104. There is nothing sacred about this ground point (G104).
There are no wires at G104 on my 88. Per the manual it shows three wires. Not one that I can feel.
I tried the direct wire from the big connector ground to the little connector ground and nada. Maybe the connector is bad. Guess that is one item I have not checked.

I thought G104 was the bellhousing bolt, #2 clockwise from the left. This came up awhile back. I recall the window wiper module being grounded by the same circuit, along with some other things. On my 85, I know for sure that bolt is the ground for the dash.
Of course, this might not apply to your year.
