Default made some wood ramps (pics)

Car's getting older, need to be able to get underneath easily, more often. Made these outta 2x10 lumber, bought 3 ten-footers and have about 6 feet left over. Raises the car 6 inches, which is more than enough for an oil change, or slide the jack under and raise it higher on jackstands for more serious work. Didn't want ramps in the way when sliding under from the side, so made them detachable.

Very nice job. I made some similar to those but mine don't come apart. Very cool.

Nice job
I slapped these together.
Not too pretty but they feel more secure than those plastic ramps they sell.

Very cool - I still use the ramps I built out of 2x12's back in 1989

Does look nice. If you don't mind, how much did you spend on supplies (price will vary from area to area)?

Thanks guys. Already had the nails, glue, handles here on hand, so those were "free." Hooks (4) to hold ramps together came from Walmart, 3 to a pack for 97 cents. But, may revise those if they don't prove beefy enough. The 10-foot 2x10's were $9.48 each at Lowes, so with tax I'm only out $31.21 for three boards.

Will scan the sketched plans and post later this evening. Old fashioned pencil on graph paper, gotta luv it.

Lumber is typically sized in it's rough cut dimensions, before planing to final smoothness. 2x10 means 1.5x9, unfortunately. My tire tread is about 1/4 inch wider than the wood. 2x12 would work better for wider tires.

Pretty damn clever about being able to take them apart like that. I am very inpressed to say the least. I am going to make me a set just like that. I already have a set of rhino ramps but I love how you can remove that section and have more room to move things around.

Safety note: Please do not build ramps from these plans. They are intended to generate ideas only. I’m taking a huge risk they’ll support the car while I’m underneath. Do not stake your life on plans some goober put on the internet. The best solution is to buy yourself a proven safe set of Race Ramps or Rhino ramps.

I cut the following from the first board: two 17 inch pieces, two 14, one 15 and one 39. I cut the same from the second board. This left only 4 inches of waste per board. From the third board I cut two 24s. That resulted in 6 feet left over from the third board. Used big huge nails and predrilled many holes so they wouldn’t split the wood. Used lotsa carpenter’s wood glue. Hope you guys get some good ideas outta the plans.
