Default Hi to all

Well I just signed up 2 days ago, I've watched this forum for awhile now. I had not joined since I was not sure if I was going to get a C5 or C4. Then what C5/C4 to get??? I wanted a 03 ZO6, a ZR-1, LT4 etc...My dad has 4 vettes, he has tried to steer me away from the ZR-1, (even though he has a 40th Ruby ZR-1). So to make it short, since we just had a new baby girl (who is a member of the NCM) I think I'm going to go with a late model C4 6-speed.

A little bit about myself. My wife and I are currently in the Army, she is a medic and I'm a Drill Sergeant for now. We have 2 girls, 8 and 3 months old. So you see why I need a vette

So here is my question on that......has anyone did the LT1/LT4 engine upgrade with LPE, DRM etc...and was it worth it?

I've been looking and there is a lot of nice C-4's with high mileage that are cheap, so I'm thinking I could get one of those and do the 383 package and have a nice fast vette. That's my train of thought.

Well I look forward to getting advice from all you experts!!!

Retired from U S Army (4 active, the rest Reserves). I LOVED my DIs (yeah right)
Here is a link from the Grand Sport registry. Click on the GS buyer's guide and you will find a nice checklist that also applies to LT1s and Lt4s.
Let us know what you find.

Joined this group last night myself. I needed a winter project/diversion from household chores, etc. Don't know squalt about Corvettes (yet) but just got exactly what you are describing. A very nice body 86 with a lot (133k) miles and it was cheap. It was nice to be able to just pay cash for it and when I can afford a payment, I'll replace something. When I can't afford a payment, I'll just drive it like it is.. It was a daily driver and is mechanically in pretty good shape, just everything inside it is falling off..

Just ordered all the weather stripping for it. Seats or covers next, then a turbo stroker motor..

Actually a box of screws to put all the insides back togather might have to come before the stroker!

and welcome. If you want stock fast in the C4 generation find a 96 with the LT4 and M6. They are very close to 350hp stock and will generally outrun the C5s. Of course the ZR1s are nice, but I think I heard you say cheap, which rules out any solid ZR1.

WOW..thanks for all the responses. The LT4 would be my first choice, the ZR1 would be nice, but as you all know, dad's know best, sometimes. It's more of a parts issue with the Z, and knowing how to work on them. Maybe his will be mine someday???? I think the fun part is looking anyways, which I have done for a LONG time. Just has never been the right time.

I think I'm the only one who has al the t-shirts, along with my family, and posters with NO vette. I go to all the big races in Bowling Green since I'm only 1 HR away ( Gathering, ZO6 fest etc) and tape all the drags and cars. One day I can take my vette.

Thanks again...........
