Hi fellas, my 86 has had the antena not working for several years now.
I don't really need it because I only listed to CDs, the antena is in the extended position, I would like to put it down but I tried pushing hard on it and it will not go down and I don't want to break it. does any one know how I can get it to come down ? the antena is not currently wired to the the radio. any suggestions are appreciated as always.
It sounds as if it has a constant voltage source to the antenna making it stay in the up posistion. It sounds as if the stock radio is not in there(am I right?) if that is so no doubt it was hot wired to stay up. You'll need to stop the power source that is makling it stay up and allow it to go down. If this does not work you'll need to pull the right rear inner fender in order to access it and manually rewind it into the body of the antenna. There is a plug at the top of the wires that goes into the Vette to unplug these you'll have to pull the inside trim pieces on the drivers side in the back to get to the plug and rubber gromet!

Hope this helps and made sense!
Thanks,Matt
you are correct , there is an after market radio in it now.
Thanks for your good advise.
