Thanks to everyone who posted the comments on my first foray onto the drag strip. But now at the Bristol Dragway they are going to have their first ever auto cross the same night they have the drags in one of the parking lots. I want to do them both. Which to do, which to do? Maybe both if she can take it. How will the vette be on a tight course? I know tires are a big factor, and I haven't had the new set I won installed yet, Fronts are worn out but the rears only have a couple thousand on them. I love this!

You'll get your butt kicked by almost everything on a short course, especially if you're inexperienced but you'll still have fun! If you can do both, go for it and enjoy a very full night of racing!
Might get the wife to bring the MG midget over for the autocross then, spitfire isn't ready yet and TR6 has clutch issues. I'll check the course to see how long and tight it is before I make a fool out of myself, no I'll probably do it anyway.

That's cool but you won't be making a fool out of yourself. Everyone out there was a first timer once. My first experience was an absolute diaster! I walked the course a couple of times and thought I had it down pat. But when I got out there, I was lost in a sea of cones and my first two runs probably looked like a blind man was driving! But auto-X folks are generally very helpful and they'll come by and offer help, tips, ride-alongs, etc. to help you out.
Are you an older guy like me? I wonder because of all of your other cars. When I was a kid in the early 60s, British sports cars were all the rage and still quite a novelty. And of course all of us kids who were already car nuts thought they were cool. My dad had a '59 bug-eyed Sprite and I walked pretty proud in the 'hood' because of that! Obviously I have a soft spot for the old British roadsters and really hope to get a bug-eye some day. Or as they call them in Europe, frog-eyed Sprites.
I guess that is what worries me most, is getting lost in the cones. I'm 51 and have had a love for British cars for years but my first love is vettes and it took me this long to get mine. I have more in the vette than I do in all 5 of my British cars combined. I'm having a ball with this vette, whether it's just driving to work or taking it to the strip and now maybe the auto cross.
