GM Drivetrain code P1661???
Can anyone inform me on what this is supposed to mean? It comes up as a manufacturer specific code so I went to the GM dealer to find out that WTF it meant. The service writer told me that it could be any of 10 things ranging from a faulty ground wire to a bad PCM. So how am I supposed to find out what's wrong?
I just looked up P1661 under the GM specific codes and it comes up: "MIL Control Circuit." Sounds like you may have an internal problem, or something is shorting itself out in there...

Does you check engine light come on with a bulb check when you turn your key on??
If it dosent try to replace it,, If it does not light up after that most likely a ECM problem..
