The Tech Section gives a fast approach to replacing the outer window seals without removing the door panels. It mentions replacing the rivets with screws but does not give the screw size and length. Has anyone done this? What size screws did you use?
Do like I did, take the door panels off and do it right. It's not difficult to remove them, just a few screws and they are off. Then it's much easier to get to the outer weatherstrips.

Go to Sears and buy a package of 3/16 x 1/4 Aluminum rivets. The heads match whats in there now and they lay flat enough to not interfere with the window operating and they will never rust.
To remove the old ones, use a sharp chisel and 'carefully' whack the heads off. This is a lot cleaner then trying to drill them out as you're never going to get all those filings out of the door.
Yes, replace the rivets with rivets. You most likely won't be able to get the one by the mirror on though.. it should be fine though. I haven't had any problems thus far.
I replaced mine a few months ago and I agree that the panels should come off in order to do the job easier and right. Also, use rivets and not screws. If the screw heads are too large you will scratch the glass. The door panels come right off and are the easiest panels I have ever removed and reinstalled.
