I recently bought a '95 Corvette Coupe. I love the car but there is something that nags me......a 'clicking' when I shift into drive or reverse. The u joints appear to be in very good shape. The noise seems to originate from the outer area of the rearend. Me and my brother removed the rear wheels and watch the area between the axle and the wheels and when they shifted with the gear shift, you could hear the 'click'.
My brother swears it is just the bushings in the 'struts' between the axle and the wheel.....and no problem.....I don't know. Anyone else famaliar with this problem? I sure would like to hear about it and what you found out. Thanks in advance!
I doubt its bushings, id guess it is the spindles where they go through the rear bearing assemblies, they get dirty and surface corrosion. This is where i would look first.

Maybe in the area of the speed sensors? They can be pulled off and the wheels rotated to see if it still clicks. Do you have much or any wheel play? The noise could be the first sign of bearing failure.
