I need to replace the cruise control assembly switch on my 87 coupe automatic. This is the one that is controled by, and mounts on a bracket which is actuated by the brake pedal. It also has a vacuum hose attached to it. The problem is the nylon ridges in it are worn and it keeps moving within the holder making the cruise control almost unusable. The GM service manual has a pic of it but no part number. I would hate to have to get this from a dealer if I can get it at NAPA or another parts retailer. Any help would be appreciated.
Let me venture a guess that you will not find an aftermarket replacement. That would be very low volume piece, not a moneymaker. Try NAPA then your stealership then TLD or Superior Cheverloet, we have a contact there, and lastly one of the Corvette salvage yards. This is my .02 cents worth.
Based on the following post looks like I may be out to lunch with my guess.
I assume you are talking about one of these two items on the Brake pedal assembly:
1. The Stop Lamp Switch P/N 25529861
2. The "Valve/Cruise Control & Trans Conv Rel" P/N 1645516
These are the numbers that are in my copy of the GM Y Body Parts and Illustration Catalog dated April 1990. (GM doesn't print these things anymore. They use microfiche or CD's).
Knowing GM, they have probably changed the P/N several times since 1990 but any dealer should be able to cross reference and update the numbers.

I checked with the dealership here in Bemidji and believe it or not they were $4 or $5 less for this part than NAPA! Go figure!. The down side is they did not have it in stock but will have it in on Monday. Works for me! Thanks for all your help with the part number.
