I am completely re-doing the interior of my 92 C4 Coupe.
The new mass back carpet set arrived today. My question is, how hard is it to remove the old stuff and what should I use for adhesive for the new carpet?
Thanks,
That would depend on if you are reusing the old backing/insulation as far as removal. 3M trim or Super trim spray adhesive (or generic) Is what the shops use to install the new carpet. I wouldn't recommend going over (atop) the old carpet.

All the carpet ripped out of my 90 really easy except for the pieces that are around the console and on the doors. For those pieces I had to pull alittle at a time, then cut the glue because it was incredibly sticky. As for putting it back in use 3M spray adhesive. Its not a hard job at all, just time consuming.
you might want to consider a sound deadening kit - dynamat or something like that. i'll be doing my 85 with new carpet (acc from wilcox corvette), and went with this damplifier pro and overkill pro- http://www.secondskinaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi

Forgot to mention that in my post. It really works wonders!
I got my carpet set from Willcox and when I called and ordered it, the person on the phone told me to go to a hardware store and purchase home air conditioning duct insulation. I did this and it was simple to install since it came in a roll and had an adhesive backing on it. I just rolled it out and cut it with a knife. I bought two rolls of this and that was enough to do the front floor, and the rear wheel area. I got it from Home Depot and it was foil on one side and a gray looking color on the floor side.
The worst problem I had was getting that super GM glue loose from the shifter console panels. I don't know what they used but it was some really tough stuff.
Hey Steve,
Check out the events section for the car show in Random Lake this weekend.
Meet up with us, I'll give you the blow-by-blow details of doing the interior replacement, using 3M 777 spray glue, the best in the world for this kind of stuff.
