Tirerack, etc.
I bought a set of tires from Tirerack Kuhmo's. I saved like $140.00
and Tirerack has a list of installers in my area.
Put the tires in the car they don't really fit without tires sticking out everywhere. Drove to the installer and had the tires balanced and mounted. The installer didn't wash off the wheels and when I got home the shizt bit into the rims.
It wasn't worth saving $140.00.
Last set I bought local he matched Tireracks price.
From my expierence tire stores are not fond of internet tire sales.
Anyway you cut it tires are expensive.
Kuhmo's are the cheapest, Yokohamas are a better tire for not much more.
Last night I posted pics of my new tires,Khumos. Came from TireRack.
They were drop shipped to one of their recommended installers. Ordered Tuesday, delivered Friday AM mounted that afternoon. Installer checked prices, I paid $176(add $10 for shipping) for 295/30/18, installer wanted $295 for the same tire. His wholesale cost was more than my retail price Said it before, don't believe you can beat them.
Tirerack.com and discounttire.com are both good pricewise, but I'd only use them if I was buying wheel/tire packages (which I did from Tirerack for my daughter's car).
Otherwise as mentioned above, it gets to be a hassle to get the tires mounted locally. It's the same as if you took your parts and your car to a chevy dealer and asked him to do the labor. He might do it, but he'll frown upon it.
For just tires, I shop at the local stores/chains. My opinion.
