Default Engine Getting Redone Next Monday

I am a little to excited. I am having the tired and leaky motor of my 85 ripped out gutted and rebuilt. As of right now I am going to have it built up to a 383. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am however still considering keeping the 350 and just add a few extra goodies, but I guess I am posting this because the 383 will cost me an extra $1000.00. Would you do it? It should only take about a week from start to finish and then the next time a little kid pulls up my *** in one of their modern hot rods I figure I could teach a little lesson.

No racing just a little pop.

I'm starting to think about spending my sons' inheritence on upgrades and modifications. Fortunately for me (and him) it takes a long, long time to make a decision. It's only money.........

if it was me, I would use the other block you have () and get it done... it's a 1 piece, hydraulic roller block, but it also allows you to keep the original engine as is. Pickle it and stash it in the corner somewhere.

you will have to take me for a ride in this beast when it's all done!!!

I'm redoing the motor in my 84 right now, its in my garage on jack stands as we speak. I've took the motor out of it, had it all cleaned and checked, had 120,000 on it and didnt have to bore it or have the crank turned or even recondition any of the rods !!! by the way, their "X" rods which is a tougher rod...... we used X rods in our late model dirt race cars some years ago.......anyway, its totally rebuilt and I bought a new set of aluminum edelbrock heads, up'ed the cam to a 470 lift and 282 duration, should made some GOOD idle noise still without having to add a stall converter.

Only thing I'm wondering about is the intake..... its for my cross fire injection, but wow, they have alot of the intake ports blocked off from the factory.....or should I say "they had"....lol.... being I drilled out the excess and used my die grinder to match port the intake with the heads..... this car may sprout wings when I hammer on it !!!.....lol....

On stroking your motor, I'm sure it'll be ALOT better like mine, but you might want to surf around for a better price on a stroker kit.
Here in TN where I live one of our local has a complete kit for 725.00 with only 55.00 for shipping..... and a complete kit consists of:
crank and bearings, rods and bearings, pistions and pistion rings, a flywheel and a harmonic balancer and its ALL BEEN BALANCED !!!

just a little friendly information from one vette dude to another.

being curious, since I did ALL my rebuild and swap myself..... whats it gonna cost ya to have your motor rebuild and swapped ?

hope its ok to post a link to my pictures as I'd like for you guys and gals to see my 84 vette along with many others of my other toys and house rebuild..... Thanks guys

It will cost me a total of about $2000.00 out of pocket. I am sure that if I had to pay for the whole thing it would cost around $5000.00. Guy that is doing the work owes me big time

that pic is classic, brah!

I couldn't igore that! And yes, I saw the theme repeat itself!

Nice looking car! What's in it?

I love dirt track racing. When I lived on the East Coast, I used to go to Delmar, DE, Williams Grove, PA and Bridgeport, PA quiet a bit.

This was when WoW actually meant something. sigh.

lol, on the flames repeating..... hehehe..... the race car is built by a great friend of mine and he's here local with me, their called
"FAST RACE CARS" its a full tubular chassis, specifically built to race on dirt tracks..... with 150lbs of lead, 10+ gallons of 118+ octane racing fuel, and my 275lbs butt, the car weighs 2,360.....bout half of what most street cars weigh........ "whats in it ?" you ask...... an all aluminum 421 cubic inch small block chevy with 18 degree heads, winburg 3.875 inch stroke crank, kryptonite rods, JE pistons T&D roller rockers with a billit roller cam, 830 cfm Stealth carb and the motor makes 760+ hp and 670+ ft lbs of torque on the dyno !!!!! it'll pull the left front wheel ALL the way down the straight away at over 110+ mph !!!!

its a ball to drive as I have raced ALOT of years and have been lucky enough to win a few races....... no matter what kind of street car you've been in, you havent experienced how a car and motor can really pull until you've sat in a 2000 lbs car and matted the "GO FAST" pedal....lol....... I got some good pics of it at speed on my other puter, I'll send ya some when I transfer them to this puter.

See what a can of worms you opened bogus, when you ask me about my race car ??????......lol......oooooooo, one other thing to enlighten you..... did you know..... racecar spelled backwards is still racecar ????
hehehe.......... later bro..... Eddie

oooooo, one other thing too bogus..... my antenna quit going up and down the same time the radio stopped working..... where do I look for the relay your talking about ?
Thank you sir !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! later
