I have a 1990 Vert and the spare tire is one of the little temporary tires. They say that to carry a full size spare, the spare tire carrier hangs down quite low. I would just carry the temp spare and a credit card. If you have a flat, just limp in on the do-nut and then fix or replace the flat one at the nearest shop.

I was faced with the same deal. I just got a 85 and it didin't come with a spare or jack. I checked around and found you need to get one that matches your year vette. mine was any 84 to 87. It has to do with the wheel offset. Dealer suggested trying junkyards ( Auto parts dismantlers ) I found one that specializes in GM and they had both the spare and the jack. took it right out of another 85 for me. $100.00
Good Luck, I'm sure the guys here can tell you the years that match up......
One thing bad is he says he's running 18's and '92's had 17's so he'll probably have to put a fullsize under there (which most likely won't fit) or will probably have to get run flats.

I have also read that the temporary spare tire (donut) is an integral part of your rear-end collision protection. If you look at where the temp spare goes, the front of the tire is right up against a frame crossmember with the fuel tank above it. Having seen that, I would be very hesitant to go without. Others will disagree I'm sure.

I've seen something here on the Forum that installs a "hard bar" to replace a spare tire delete, probably for the same reason.
I don't think any weight savings is worth the loss of structural integrity.
