The Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) System was a stock feature on all 1993 Corvettes. They all have it.
Personally - and I may stand alone here - I do not like it. I do not even use the PKE Fob with my keys. I have a different, "regular", key ring for my keys and I leave the PKE Fob at home. I just like to have the car locked and unlocked by me, not the system. I think I feel more secure that way. :D
Re: 1993 remote entry (rubyred93) I agree with rubyred (dizwiz)
It started in '93.
I love it. When its raining I can hold an umbrella and other junk and still open the door quick. I agree that the emblem is a give away about the car but I hold on to my keys like if they were gold:lol:. The only problem is getting gas. Honk, lock, honk, lock... people look at me like i'm a mental that can't stop playing with my alarm:D.

When getting gas, just leave the door cracked. You can close it all the way when you go inside. I've had several cars with passive alarms so I've gotten use to it.
Or if your going to a carwash you can hold down the lock button on the remote till the door locks cycle once, that disables the passive system. Just remember to turn it back on. There is a light in the lower left corner of the info display that comes on at startup, if the passive system is on.

I can't believe I forgot about this:D. When I wax my car I leave one door cracked just to get inside the car whenever. I only turn it off at car shows. I guess I am a mental:lol:.

Sometimes it's the simple things that are most easily forgoten. :yesnod:
Dealer diagnosed it as the fob itself, but even said that with a new fob/tranmitter, the one in the car may still be bad. My only thing is that I guess I dont know how to control the security system without it. I guess I will have to post a question on that one sometime.
If you do not use the passive entry system, how does the alarm set up when you lock it? I have tried it and then reached in and opened the door and no alarm?! Does using the key entry alone disable the factory alarm also? If not, how do you set it up using only the keys to lock the car?
If you use the power lock on the inside to lock both doors and then close the door, your factory alarm should be set. It should go off if you reach in and open the door manually, but if you use the power lock again, that may disarm it, I'm not real sure (or there may be a delay?). I do know if it's armed passively, the only way to disarm it is with the remote, or by unlocking the doors from the outside. If you just reach in and unlock it will set it off.
