Frustrated !!!! Please Help....
I have been having a problem with my 84 vet. Actually the problems started after I washed the engine but tried to be careful not to get water on the top of the engine, best of my ability. I was attempting to get oil off side of engine because of bad valve cover gaskets.
Yesterday I was unable to get the car to start after running it around for a while. We decided to change out the coil, plug wires, plugs and fuel filter.
After all was installed I took it out for a spin and it ran pretty good. But it seems to have a hesitation when you jump on it. When I got home park it in the garage and waited for about 15 minutes. It started right up but had a rough idle and then died. Now it turns over but will not start...
Any ideas on where to look next?
I'm trying to get this resolved so we can go to Carlisle next Friday.

Not to sound like an idiot, but take the air cleaner cover off and then try to start it. If the air filter was dirty and got some water in it, then it would allow even less air through.
This is where I would start. Since you messed with the plug wires, ect.... look there for loose connections. Use a fuel pressure guage to check fuel pressure. Make sure there are no obstructions to air flow.
Tried to start and cranks and cranks and no turn over...
Could I have damaged some sort of electronic module for the engine??
Check for spark. You can use a spare spark plug and insert it into one plug wire at a time. Hold the tip of the plug next to the exhaust manifold and have someone crank the engine. You should see spark and repeat on the other 7 cylinder plugs. If there is spark then check for fuel pressure.

When I did the plugs and wires I did one at a time. As I did each one I made sure they snapped on the plug and on the distributor.
I have noticed that once the car cools done it will start like a champ. Even after I changed everything it started right up with no problem. And most likely if I let it sit there till later in hte day she will start right up. It seems only when she gets hot after running.

Letting the car sit for 30 or so minutes it did start. Idle was bouncing between 700 and 900 RPM.
After a little time the idle started going up and started to bounce betweem 1000 to 1300.
I see fuel going into the throttle bodies fom the injectors, top of air clearner is still off. I then wanted to rev it a little to see if idle would back off some but when I rev'd it I got a loud pop from one of the throttle bodies. No flames just a loud pop.

Finally Fixed....
Well I got my Vette back yesterday and it runs great. After changing the plugs, plug wires, coli, fuel filter the garage also changed the dist cap and rotor he finally determined that it was the fuel pump. Actually when he was working on the car it started acting up as it did with me. He noticed the fuel pressure had dropped. He got a new pump and installed it on Wednesday night.
Thursday was the final test and the car still performed like a charm...
I spent all afternoon and most of the night getting it ready for the trip to Carlisle... Man she looks good. But only to wake up this morning to rain.... Oh well I can't change the weather.... Guess I be washing it down in Carlisle for the show....
Just thought I'd let everyone know what the final outcome of my problem was.
