Rear Storage Compartment

Has anyone removed their rear storage compartment boxes? If you did do you know what it weighed? How did you finish it out without the twin box/lid? I have heard of people using a thin formica to cover the opening and carpeting over it. Anyone got any better ideas or different solutions?

You mean you drive a vette without a hefty stash of tools and fluids in there?

Your post made me smile! At this stage this car hasn't been driven but a couple miles since I bought it. I hope to only have to carry a roof wrench and a spare nitrous bottle.

Sure, did you keep the doors or did you make a panel? I am thinking about pulling the box out entirely but mounting my battery inside with either an aluminum panel or a piece of formica with a piece of carpet over it. It would be a quick release panel but would weight next to nothing. My goal is a bit different than most because I am looking at lots of ways to cut weight out of the car without the average person being able to notice it.
