Default Drag radials

Anyone run drag radials on the street regularly? If so what kind mileage you get out of them?

I run the Nittos. They're the only ones I feel are suitable for full time street use on a Vette. I haven't worn out a new set yet but some have reported getting 10-12 even 15K miles out of them. I use 305/35/18s on ZO6 wheels in the rear. I'm currently using F1 Supercars on the front.

Last time I raced at e-town(165 mile ride each way), I bolted on a set of new bfg drag radials. Drove down, won the race and drove home. I made 10 runs total. Wear bars were showing when I arrived home.

I guess that all depends on how often you race on them doesn't it? And how long you burn them?

For reference, I got 8000 street miles on some Yokohama street tires with 50 drag runs, and basically no burnouts.

My M/T drag radials are about 1/2 way done 0 street miles and 100 passes on them with burnouts.

I am glad to hear that. I am ordering a new set of mt drag radial on monay. Numidia Dragway has a $5,000 to win foot brake race sept 2nd. Gonna give them a try. They sound like they may be a bit more durable than the bfg's.

I ran nitto 555r DR's on my '85 for about 17k miles and they were just around 1/2 tread left on them when I sold the car. I had probably about 15 track runs on them and many more on the street.

Key is to warm them up at the track but not just sit and waste the tread.

I have them on my '92 now as they make a HUGE difference in traction now. I have put about 4k miles on them now, 2 runs at the track, many street starts.

I love them, and trust them in rain and shine.

Thanks for the replys everyone. The reason I ask is I'm probably only a few months away from the car hitting the street and one of the last purchases I'm down to making is wheels/tires. I imagine from prev sports cars I've had this car will only see 2-4k a year and maybe a trip now and then to the track. So I really hate to have two sets of wheels and tires sitting around if I can get away with running DRs all the time and if I can get 8-10k out of a set of DRs that suits me fine that should be at least two years with the way the Vette will get used.

I'm running the same Nitto DRs at Corvette Kid (305/35/18) on the back of my C5 for my street tires. I have had them on the car for 15 months now and have put about 5k miles on them. I made 4 passes with them at the local 1/4 mile dragstrip. I'd say they are good for at least another 5k miles.

I used to drive to E-Town with the Nittos (280 round trip) And they never looked like they were wearing. Once I started to trailor I went to BFGs. They seem to wear out pretty quick just racing. They couldn't last too long on a daily driver.

I got 6k miles on my nittos before they weren't safe in the rain any longer. The centers wore out too fast, I should have run them with lower pressure. I also had them heat cycled. A friend with a high hp supra gets about 4k out of a set. I'm planning to get some more this winter.

So far it sounds like the Nittos are getting the nod.
