Default can anyone help

Not sure if this is for the tech section as ive just joined your forum.
I have just recieved my 86 corvette convertible here in New Zealand, just arrived from california.I have to get it certified to drive on the road legaly.I have two problems, the power steering pump is making horrible noises and pumping oil all over the garage floor,do you think this unit needs replacing or will a seal kit fix the problem, and two, one of the seat belts seem to be stuck in the housing and won't pull out. What does the CHINCH button do,this makes no difference if i press it in.Can i buy new seat belts for this model Corvette or good second hand ones and what should i expect to pay.
I need to fix these two problems so i can get my new toy on the road.
As you can understand ,there arn't truck loads of Corvettes or parts in this country.

Kind regards Nick Meechan Napier New Zealand

Sorry you are having problems, Nick.

PS pump: We can't tell you what will fix the leak until we know what is leaking. A seal kit will fix it IF it's a bad seal, but not if it's a worn shaft. A new pump will fix it if it's a problem with the pump, but not if it's a bad line or rack. You need to diagnose this before it can be corrected...and we need more (much more) information.

Belts: The CINCH button locks the belt in place once it has been extended. I suppose it's possible that it has malfunctioned and is locking it in the retracted position. Pull the retract unit out of the car and take a good look....it may be nothing more than a spilled Pepsi that is gumming up the mechanism.

Time to break out the tools and do some work on your new Vette. Good luck and welcome to the love/hate world of Corvettes.
