Ive never had to do anything to this car but change the battery (what fun) anyways I got a flat (in my driveway thank goodness) but the driver side rear tire needs to come off to be patched. I see where the jacking points are but my concern is that it looks like it is also gonna be jacking up on the painted rocker panel and the steel flange behind it. I just wanted to make sure this is the right place and that its not gonna crack that rocker panel. Its a convertible so would it be better i use part of the x frame instead? Thanks,
Place the jack where the jacking points are indicated on the lower facia. You won't have any issues with jacking there. No need to open the hood or doors, just raise the car.
The X-brace is not to be used as a jacking point. The steel in the X-brace is just a mild steel and will bend or flatten if you use it to jack the car up.
The 'vert is actually stiff enough that if you raise a rear wheel high enough, you can lift the front wheel on the same side. Not a big deal but looks scary the first time.
The factory jack is a PITA to get to and use, so I would get a floor jack to keep at home. You can find the 2-ton aluminum "racing" jacks at parts stores and they occasionally go on sale for around $100. Much easier to use and will lif the car quickly.

Thanks! I was just making sure i wasnt going to crack the rocker panel I have the worst luck with things like this so thought i would make sure it wouldnt hurt it. thanks again
I agree with cruiser, you shouldn't have any problems with this. Use a cloth or rubber piece between the jack and the car to prevent any scraping. I always make sure the rocker panel and the jack don't touch and you can loosen the bolts on the rocker panel to give some slack if need be. Is there a screw in the tire, ect? You might just be able to leave the tire on the car and roll it so as the screw?? is where you can plug it.
Thanks guys your info worked perfect. I didnt have any trouble jacking the car up at all.... but i told you about me having bad luck so here is the bad part lol... you could only see the very top of the bolt with it still in the tire. Heres a picture of what they pulled out! (The bolt not the pen)
thats a pretty big bolt! The weird thing is that the bottom part where the nut and all that was all the way in the tire :| anyways its up at the tire shop now getting a patch but i dont plan on driving the car much until i get a new set of tires which it needed anyways so now i have an excuse to get them Thanks again for you alls help....
