Default leak help please

I have a leak comming out of what appears to be my transmission cooler line to my radiator, but its leaking trans fluid..... is that right? Can anyone help my in the right direction for fixing this, washers or things I might need to replace. I tried to just tighten things up but couldnt get it to budge, pretty serious leak so Ill probably borrow a car tomorrow and maybe go get some PB blaster. TIA

Yes that is correct it will leak transmission fluid there.

It should be a flare end nut, so you want to use an open end flare end wrench. I believe it is just a metal to metal seal. The line should be flared I think. Has there been any maintenance done recently?

Might just try loosening the fitting, clean it and reseat it again. Don't over torque it.

thank you that helps a lot, Ive been crazy busy latly so the regular maint. has been less than what it probably should be, however Im no mechanic so Im not sure what kind of things I should be doing to prevent this. Drop the trans pan and change the oil / filter I suppose? Would keep it clean.

Either way Im still a little unsure, if anyone else wants to see what Im working on I took a few pics

this is to show you where it is

this I point out the differant "points of interest"

this I point out where the leak is comming from exactly, in case anyone has trouble with my arrow its pointing to the black threaded part of the line or # 2

and this is those two previous pics without the junk drawn all over it

Im not sure if I need to take the radiator cover off to get to this well enough. There apears to be the black threaded part of the line #'s 1 + 2 (which I assume is what is flared on the inside) then a double threaded (inside and outside threaded) part to screw into both the radiator and the line #3 . The finnal nut looks like it could actually be a part of the radiator itself #4 but Im not sure.

I apreciate you putting up with my ineptitude but Im not afraid to look inept so long as I eventually figure it out. A big thank you as always though.

No need to drain transmission filter etc or pull the radiator unless you have to replace it because the leak cannot be stopped.

The copper large nut secures the whole assy to the radiator housing. Then second smaller copper nut you put a wrench on to provide the resistence when tightening. The item you have marked as "1" is the nut you will be turning. Put a wrench on the smaller of the two copper nuts and one on the black nut (1) and see if it will snug up. Don't overtighten it.. If that doesn't stop it, you can try loosening the (1) nut up to remove the line, wipe it with clean rag and reinsert and tighten the (1) nut while holding the secoond smaller copper nut.

Was this line taken off recently for another maintenance?
