The original radio in my '85 Corvette does not pull in radio stations well, and eats cassette tapes regularly. I'd like to install XM Satellite radio (first choice), or a CD changer. Does anyone have any experience installing XM in their C4, and what advice would you give on mounting the antenna? (Or any advice on the installation of a CD changer?)

I doubt you'll be happy with an FM signal CD changer or XM type unit if your factory antenna sucks, plus you'll still be listening through the factory speakers.
When upgrading a 85 Bose system, you basically have to tear the entire thing out. It uses amps in each speaker and is not compatible with conventional headunits or speakers and has no aux inputs. There are converters to use aftermarket headunits, but it'll sound worse than it does now.
I'd recommend just doing it right and putting in a new headunit that you can hook into, and new speakers. You can reuse the Bose pre-amp wiring to your new speakers or replace the puny guage wire with something better. The rear takes 6x9s. The fronts take 4s, or you can cut some 4x6s into the dash, or use some plywood or something in the doors to mount 6" rounds.
Be prepared to spend at least $500 for an entry level system. This should get you a cheaper XM radio. You can also go for the MP3, great way to get 10 cds on one disc since there's really no room for a cd changer.

Go with the satalite radio...you will not be disappointed. I would suggest mounting the antenna in the trunk area under the carpet. As long as it has a clear Line of site to the outside you will be good to go. I have an aftermarket radio in my 85 and I did not have to get ANY adapter kit. I plan on redoing my entire system and getting a Car PC. Some where around 80Gig.
