Is there a difference or does it not matter??
Your opinions would be helpful. As would any nuggets of knowledge that might help. About how much time would you expect it to take a reasonably competent shade tree mechanic. (That'd be my brother, I'm almost usless under the hood)
You will have people here that will tell you to go to your local GM dealer for a rebuild, that's nice if you have money to throw away.......Gm does not rebuild their own waterpumps. They buy them from rebuild places just like the aftermarket places do and then charge you double........I'd go to where you feel comfortable buying .......Be it Autozone, NAPA, or some other place......It took my son and I about two hours and a six pack to change my 86......Work from the right side, the AC compressor has to be removed. just loosen it and lay it back on the engine.....Don't remove the hoses just lay it back......There is a torx bolt down under that you have to feel for.......Then it's just a normal water pump change.......Drain the radiator and all that stuff.....I found it easier to change than most, you have plenty of room to work up front, no radiator directly in front to get in the way.....Good luck.....
I used an Edlebrock too, but only because I picked up a brand new one off Ebay for 40 bucks.....
Have a Great Day!!!!!!!!
