96 Collector's Edition coupe LT4, dual power seats, F45. No mechanical problems, no appearent past body damage, overall nice interior and paint with nearly new tires. Two owner car with 140K. Any idea what it's worth? Thanks.
You're opening a can of worms with this one. The price you will want to hear depends on whether you are the seller or a prospective buyer. If you are a seller you will want to hear 14 to $15,000. If you are a buyer you want to hear less than $10,000. Without knowing any more about it and assuming average condition and wear because of the miles I would guess this car would sell in the 10k-12K range. The reason I say that is there are many others for sale right now with lower miles for a little more money. The LT-4 and M6 really help it though. Condition, prior history and maintenance records will make all the difference on this car. I have a 96 coupe with 110k that has been cared for and it can pass for a 30K car but it's still a 110K car at selling time. Condition will help me sell it but it certainly won't bring the price a 60K car would.
Well, I am saving for an LT4, so I've been looking at prices. I know I can get a pretty nice example with between 50-80k miles for $15,000.
They made lots of CEs, so the color doesn't really make them rare. I'm looking for a car with lower miles, so I wouldn't even make a bid on this particular car, but if I was looking for a budget LT4 and could handle the miles, I might bite if a car with 140k miles was priced below 10 grand, but it would have to be in real nice shape for the miles, with a good maintenance history.
Thanks. This is just the kind of information that I'm looking for. I'm sort of seller and buyer. My step father is a whole sale dealer and just bought the car. He doesn't know much about Corvettes and was asking my advice. He didn't know what the Collector Edition was or even that it was an LT-4 until I talked to him. However, an LT-4 would be a nice improvement from my 92 6 speed and for the right price I might buy the car. Any other opinions are appreciated.

That's 100,000k more miles than my vert and I wouldn't sell it for less than 22k
Z15 Collectors Edition was a $1250.00 option that 5400 folks checked off on the order form. Being a Collectors Edition probably won't add a lot of value because so many of the 1996's (25%) were CE's. I think the main attraction would be that most CE's usually have a nice option package including upgraded Bose with CD, automatic HVAC, power DS and PS Sport Seats and nice looking ZR-1 styled wheels.
An LT-4 CE vert with 40K miles is is not a good car for comparison with this one.
I agree and it sounds like it must be in pristine condition. I would guess a 96 LT4 CE M6 with the 140,000 miles would sell for around the $10,000 that was previiously posted or perhaps less. It all depends on the buyers intrest or the sellers patience.
the real question is how much did your dad pick it up for and how much will he let you have it for?for comparison sake i bought my 96 lt4 one year ago with 89k on it.nlack w/tan interior.sport seats, adj. suspension, bose stereo, and auto temp control.some minor scratches and road rash.i paid $13,500.good deal?maybe, but i would'nt have paid anywhere near that with 140k.

I thought he got it pretty cheap and what I'm hearing here seems to confirm that. He'd let me have it at his cost but I should be able to give him some profit and still come out okay. I've been thinking about selling my 92 and moving up to a C5, but this LT4 is tempting. Plus I've always loved the CE wheels. Thanks for all the help.
Actually there were only 2009 CE LT 4 made. In my opinion that will make it more collectable in the future. The LT 4 motor with the 6 sp. will make a difference in value in the future. As a comparison look at the 1970's LT1 and compare that price with a standard 350. Look at a '69 big block compared to a smallblock. If you watch the auctions you will see that the difference between a price for a standard vehicle compared to the same vehicle with a special limited production motor ,there is a hugh difference. yes it will take time but it will happen. Thats 2009 Ce LT4 forever, no more will be made. If you look and listen all you will hear is praise for the LT 4 motor. I can only think that will continue while the # available will slow down. Just my opinion....G
