I was just looking at my "new" car's VIN and it just hit me that my car's serial number (last 5 digits of the VIN) is 00003! That makes my car #3 for the model year, right? Wow! Probably built on day 1. Anyone else with a either a very low or very high number for their model year? 96 CE LT4 Coupe.

You might want to check with the NCM to find out what #1 & 2 were. You could very well have the first CE built.
Or how about the last C4 ever built. How cool would that be?
Good luck getting your hands on that one, if I'm not mistaken, Mike Yager has it.
Did you see what the last '67 went for? Well over $220,000 and that was before the much needed ground up restoration. After they were done, I think over $750,000 was spent. Pro Team had it, don't know who has it now.

A call to the NCM may well be worth it. In any event, buy a copy of the window sticker and the build sheet from them. That willl tell you the name of the selling dealer, price and specific options and packages. The build sheet will have the order number, build date, and RPO listings of what went into the car.
As far as batching cars, there usually can be a small run of cars in the same color to simpify passing cars thru the paint booth, but with the robotics now in use, different colors can be done on each subsequent car. In any event, this sounds like a great find.
I've got the nine thousand eight hundred and fifty-first Corvette built in 1996. I feel sorry for all you low VIN number guys. By the time they got to mine, GM had the chance to work all the bugs out....

Naw..probably built on day 2--they spent all day on #1 & #2 trying to get them to fit together! But, there's a good chance your build was assisted by a double handful of engineers!
VIN #3 was probably built at least a month before the start up of production for the '96 model year... I have '96 Grand Sport #0006 (a totally different VIN sequence than the other '96 cars) and it was built in May of '95. Check your build sheet (its hiding behind the right inside tailight strapped to the gas tank)...you may have the car that was used for the dealer brochure photos...
I would think that with #3, pre-production and just starting up the line again for the new model year, my car might have gotten a LOT of attention to make sure it was right! Cool! I'll definitely contact the NCM for the sticker and build sheet and to see if they can tell me anything else.
