Okay from the top...we have had some serious rain here lately..and I do mean serious rain as well as high winds..My vette is parked in front of my garage and is outside this time of year...It's a Vert. so it sat for a week. Today a beautiful day I decide to take it for a spin..I give it a quick wash and as I open the passenger door to wipe the window..I notice about an inch of water on the passenger side. YIKES!..I get the wet dri vac and get the water out then opened the top to let it dry in the sun. Where in the hell did this water come from it doest leak in the rain normally and I did not spray the hose directly onto the window, like I said this was a quick wash. I am thinking perhaps the cowl vents if they are blocked from gunk will the rain water come inside the car? it's not the a/c vent..I know that is working ..any ideas? By the way this water was on the floor my seats were bone dry. One other clue the carpet was wet high on the firewall, clear under the seat bottom
It sounds like the same problem I have. I've found that water goes from the passenger side windshield drain, down into the heater blower housing, then must come back up when the drain end doesn't open enough as fast as it needs to. It runs down along something I can't see, then hops over the side of the vent (cowl vent I think it's called) and into the passenger side carpet.
If I can figure out how to fix it, I'll post it here and on a new thread. If you've figured it out already, please let me know.
I have a similar probleme, but it is on the driver's side. I have cleaned the cowling drains, but it still leaks. I have taken a trouble light when it is dark and shined it from the inside-out and vice versa with the carpeting pulled back. I have noticed that the bonding material that gm used to help seal/bond between where the passenger compartment and the engine compartment joins together is seperating; I can see light comoning through. Maybe something to look at?
