2 Rolls of Tint $20 1 squegee $5.69
Tinting your C4
#1. Get help. You cant do a good job by yourself
#2 Get a spray bottle AND windex. Fill the spray bottle with some dish soap/water mix.
#3 Get a squeege. You can get them at every auto store. They usually come with the razor blade.
#4 Get a razor blade
#5 Scotch tape
First clean all the windows to be tinted first with the windex then with the soap solution.
Ok, now that your all set first get your tint and place a peice of scotch tape on the corner, now on the flip side add another piece of tape and pull both ends from another slightly. You will see a clear film start to be removed. Only remove it an inch or two so that you now know which side is the sticky. Now on the outside of the window, place the tint sticky side up and trim the tint with the razor, to fit the window. Leave about a 1 inch overlap so you have matterial to play with. Now once you are ready, spray the window with the solution....use alot! Now remove the film with the help of the 2nd person and slowly place the tint onto the window. Use the squeege to work form one corner and work the tint slowly onto the window while removing air with the sqeege. Trim as needed to the window but not beyond, just trim enough so you can get the air bubbles out. Repeat this until the window is covered. Over lap peices by 1/4 inch and do not trim completely until the entire window is covered. Once complete trim 1/4 inch from the edge of the glass. If you mess up you can remove the tint and start again, just add solution again. I have some pics BUT I did not have help and my work reflects this. If you have help you can get the tint damn near flawless. The biggest thing to a flawless back window is work with small peices and start at the top and work down. I found out the hard way that the tint should have went left to right instead of up and down on the back glass. Anyway I hope this is helpful
Thanks, it took me about 2 hours but I learned a ton. What I wrote up is what I feel one of the better ways to do it. Since I have not seen a write up about it before I figured I would do one. Next time I know I will be able to do a professional job.
Someone told me you can do a seamless install. So basically you have no overlap and it would be very hard to tell if there is more than one peice there. I might do that next time I tint.

What I have heard is that the tint guy put the tint on the outside to get the shape and then applied it to the inside of the rear window. Not sure how true that is but it makes sense...

That is correct.
Now on the outside of the window, place the tint sticky side up and trim the tint with the razor, to fit the window.
Wow that looks great! I had mine done years ago. They had to do 3 pieces on my back hatch though. Its all coming off since I had the car parked for almost 2 years in the sun, and didnt take care of it. I need to peel it all off and retint it. I am going to try tackling it myself this time. Thanks for the tips!
I plan to do my new-to-me 88 Prelude this week before touching the Vette's windows.
the best way to do it, is to wet the window on the outside put your tint on the outside trim the tint to fit the window then put on the inside and get all the air and water out
I was gonna try it myself but then last min. said "No way". So I had someone else do it for $200. Well worth it. All I had to do is drop it off. Few hours later it was done.
I was going to pay someone to do it but I was at the store and saw the tint and figured, what the heck, why not. I am going to redo the back and Drivers side in a few weeks.

ouch thats a bit high. I had mine done for $160 at a high end place. did you have anything special done?
BTW, what ground fx kit is on your car? I like that.
...can't wait to start the tint project on my beater prelude now I bought some tint remover to remove all the old stuff off the Vette while I am at it too.

yeah a bit high, but look very closely at the pic and the ones in "my corvette pics" you'll notice the mirror tint, the entire back is also mirrored. Very proffesional and no flaws at all. So it was well worth it.
The ground effects are all mold kraft
