I had the '94 vert on the rack and the mechanic told me that there is a missing frame support member. The FSM does not show anything or at least I haven't found it in either book 1 or 2.
Location is in the middle of the car where there are 4 threaded studs that come from the floor pans on each side and in line with the resonator in the tunnel. The resonator has a spring support on it.
The studs are about 8" centers and angled on each side and are at least 18' from the tunnel making them about 36" across from each other.
All verts came with an underbody X brace to compensate for the soft top. The said studs are where it mounts to. Here's the aftermarket piece. Sounds like yours is MIA.

You might be able to find the X-brace on eBay or the C4 Parts For Sale section.
The R-D brace was designed for coupes and it only attaches at the frame corners. The factory brace also sttaches to those studs in the belly pan for increased rigidity.
Thanks everyone. I have been driving this car since I bought it in January not knowing it was missing important parts.
The rag top was loose at the pivot points on both sides and it looked like there were brackets missing but after trying to locate some for 3 months, I was at a car show and finally found out the mounting brackets were there all the time. Also the inside rear view mirror was missing and the Bose Gold series radio had been disconnected with the cables cut.
For some reason I feel that this car was being parted out but the owner said no that he had bought it from an estate sale and it was a one-owner car. He is a very good friend of one of my best friends who is car lot dealer. I still wonder, but the car is in good condition except for missing parts.
