Problems solved..??
Had an expert take a look over my car the weekend. Two issues I have are temp guage flapping around and cutting out.
He established a pattern straight away, when the car in is neutral the temp guage is ok, same if its shifted to reverse. When its shifted to drive, immediately the guage starts going crazy.
He suggests there is a wire shorting to ground somewhere around the box. Certainly if you put your hand around this area (car only on ramps, so difficult to see) there was a lot of crumbly insulation falling down. He thinks this is telling the ecu that the car is overheating, and shuts down. Something like that anyway.:o
He also tends to think the revs sound ok, even though they show 1200rpm, suggesting the guage is reading over. I am not sure on this, as when shifting to D there is quite a thump, and my vette can drive itself at 30mph all its own!!
Surely not right.Anyhoo, it's going in this week to have all fluids changed including trans as it looks brownish...and should be red..right?
I obtained 2 catalogues straight from the States (he visits a couple of times a month). One is an Ecklers catalogue just for the C4. Boy could I spend some ££ in there.
Fingers crossed, next week all should be right again.
ps Thinking of you all over there on this day..
You really need to find a good Corvette mechanic. You're in a tough spot.
Any codes? I'm not familiar much with a '90 car.

It'll be easier on Thursday this week when the cars in his shop. (we looked outside his house using ramps...never the easiest)
Need to hook up a laptop top then.
