Default Body work

Well not the best of days.

My 95 black LT1 Coupe was parked on a parking lot. A Mini Van backing out from her space hit my Vette. Now the Vette has a crack on the right side door and a smaller crack on the right fender.

It will going into a body shop for repair as soon as the insurance matters clear.

My question: Is there anything that I need to bear in mind as I deal with either the insurance adjuster and the forthcoming body shop?

The cracks are not severe, one would not notice them unless right next to the car. Also, the lady who hit my car (I was not in it at the time) did come inside the building to tell me - I guess honesty still exists.

So, if anyone has advice on things to know in dealing with this insurance (it will be Allstate) company or a body shop - I would welcome them.

Thank you.

check vette2vette i bet you can get a door cheaper than getting yours repaired and you know it will not be a repair job, a good body shop should be able to insall and line every thing up for abou 200 dollars

The cost will be much higher than that. 200.00 might cover the cost of the paint materials. you also have the parts cost either new or used if it's not repairable. Installation of the door will be around 6.5 hrs @ around 40.00 per. Then add the Necessary refinishing, polishing etc.
It adds up really quick.

I've been with Allstate for 30 yrs and have used the collision service on several occasions over the years. Never a problem. You can go to the shop of your choice however if you go to one that is affiliated with them, they guarantee the repair for the life of your ownership of the car. At least they do on mine So should be no problaimo

seems like i have seen doors go for about 350 plus install labor at 6.5 hours is 260.00 so you are at 610 there you can buff it out your self and it will look as good as new or you can install the door and save the labor. also you can buy a door that is the correct color no need to paint

I got Tboned by a guy not looking coming out of a driveway. I took it to get the damage apraised by my insurance. They came to a total of about 2k. Well i opted to have a vette specialist do the work. The specialist quoted me bout 3,500. So i sent a rep to the specialist to discuss the damages and after my insurance agreed to cover the cost. Not sure if this helps, but i hope it does.
